Sacristans
The sacristan plays a vital role in the smooth running of liturgical celebrations, ensuring that the church is prepared for Mass and other services with dignity and care. This important ministry involves a range of responsibilities, including:
- Opening and locking the church before and after Masses and services.
- Ensuring altar breads and altar wine are prepared for the Offertory gifts.
- Setting up the credence table with the items required for Mass and checking there are sufficient hosts in the ciborium within the tabernacle.
- Lighting the altar candles and, on special occasions, preparing the thurible before Mass.
- Monitoring and ordering necessary Mass requisites to ensure the church is always well-stocked.
We are blessed to have Jean serving as our dedicated sacristan, whose attention to detail and devotion contribute significantly to the spiritual life of our parish. We warmly welcome anyone who feels called to join this rewarding ministry. Training and support will be provided to help new members serve with confidence and reverence.
