Fr John says  a very big THANK YOU to everyone for your Christmas prayers, good wishes, cards and generous gifts which all helped me to enter joyfully into the festive season after what has been a difficult year for me following a personal bereavement.  God bless you all as we head into 2020. 
 
JANUARY
 
Wednesday 8th   4pm WOL meeting in the Annexe.
 
Wednesday 15th FATIMA VIDEO  Spend one hour with Our Lady of Fatima after the 9.30am Mass on Wednesday 15th January 2020 in the Annex. A wonderful video on the messages of Fatima will be shown, with ample time for questions / discussions. Free Miraculous Medals available.
 
Saturday 25th   11-am – 2.30pm  A BIOETHICS DAY at Gillis Centre looking at Assisted Suicide with Professor David Jones and PALLIATIVE CARE with Evelyn Howie retired senior palliative care nurse at St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh.  This is a free event and a light lunch will be provided. Register by calling 01316238900.
 
FEBRUARY
 
Anti-Human Trafficking– Modern Slavery  The Caritas Commission has invited Alistair Bull from the charity HOPE for JUSTICE to run a training event to help us recognise and respond to signs of trafficking in our society here in Scotland. Wednesday 5th February 7-9pm at Gillis Centre.

The Bishops’ Conference of Scotland – Scottish Catholic  Safeguarding Service have requested that a safeguarding audit  be prepared by every parish across the country, answering questions about how they are complying with safeguarding standards and procedures. Fr John as Parish Priest and Paul McLaren as Parish Safeguarding Coordinator will prepare this audit and return it to the Archdiocese by the due date of 31st January.  “ Taking a close look at Safeguarding in our Church” leaflets explore these protocols in more detail.  Please pick up a copy as you leave Mass.
